Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

Depending on how you use FaithTrainer, we may collect:

• Account information. If you create an account, we store your email address and the sign-in details handled by our authentication provider.
• Profile information. Anything you choose to add to your profile, such as a display name.
• Saved progress and learning activity. Lesson progress, game scores, streaks and similar records created as you use the site.
• Journal entries. Reflections you write in the journal and daily journey tools.
• Prayer records. Prayer requests, reflections and saved prayer content you create in the Prayer Companion.
• Other saved content. Favourites, saved passages, reading plans and anything else you deliberately save.
• Messages you send us. If you use the contact form, we keep your name, email address and message so we can reply.
• Basic technical information. Information generated automatically when a browser loads a page, such as IP address, browser and device details, referring page and the pages viewed.

You can use most of FaithTrainer without an account. When you are signed out, some progress and saved items are kept only in your own browser's local storage on your device.

2. How we use information

• To operate FaithTrainer and provide the features you ask for
• To maintain your account and save your progress
• To provide account-specific functionality, such as your saved library
• To maintain, troubleshoot and improve the website
• To understand general usage of the site
• To prevent abuse, fraud, spam and security problems
• To respond to support requests and other messages you send us
• To meet applicable legal obligations

We do not use your private journal entries or prayer content for advertising, and we do not share that content with advertisers.

3. Private journal and prayer content

Journal entries and prayer records saved to an account are protected by user-specific access controls in our database: each record is tied to the account that created it, and the database rules only permit that signed-in account to read, change or delete it. This protection is enforced at the database level, not only in the interface.

Staff may still encounter such content in limited cases where it is unavoidable — for example while investigating a technical fault or responding to a legal requirement. This content is never sold, shared with advertisers, or used to personalise advertising.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

FaithTrainer and the third-party services it uses may rely on cookies, local storage, web beacons or pixels, IP addresses, browser and device information, and similar identifiers. These technologies may be used to:

• Keep you signed in and remember your preferences and saved items
• Keep the site secure and detect abuse
• Measure general website usage where analytics is enabled
• Serve advertising and measure how advertising performs

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and clear local storage. Doing so may sign you out or remove items saved on your device while signed out.

5. Google AdSense and advertising

FaithTrainer is configured to display advertising through Google AdSense.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads on FaithTrainer.
• Google's use of advertising cookies may enable Google and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to FaithTrainer and/or other sites on the internet.
• Google and other advertising providers may collect or receive information through cookies, web beacons, IP addresses and similar technologies in connection with advertising.
• Depending on your location and your consent choices, the advertising you see may be personalised or non-personalised.
• You can review and change Google's personalised advertising settings at Google Ads Settings.

Google and other advertising providers act independently. We do not control how they process the information they collect, and their own policies govern that processing.

Advertising is kept away from prayer and journal spaces.

6. Analytics

FaithTrainer can be connected to third-party analytics and tag services — for example Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager or similar tools — which the site administrator enables through the site's settings. Analytics is only active when a provider has been configured; if none is configured, no analytics service runs on the site.

Where analytics is active, the provider may process information such as pages visited, general usage patterns, browser and device information, approximate location derived from an IP address, referral information and similar technical data. We use analytics to understand which pages are useful and to improve the site.

7. How information may be shared

We do not sell your personal information in the ordinary sense of selling personal information.

Information may be processed by service providers when reasonably necessary to run the website, including:

• Hosting and infrastructure providers
• Our authentication, database and file storage provider (Supabase)
• Analytics providers, where analytics has been enabled
• Advertising providers, including Google AdSense
• Security and anti-abuse services

We may also disclose information where required by law, or where reasonably necessary to protect the website, its users, or legal rights.

8. Data retention

We keep information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the relevant service, operate your account, meet legitimate operational needs, resolve disputes, maintain security and comply with legal obligations. When you ask us to delete your account and its content, we remove it unless we are required to keep something for legal reasons.

9. Data security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect information, including encrypted connections, managed authentication and per-user database access rules. No website or online service can be completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that information will never be accessed in an unauthorised way.

10. Your choices and privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information. These can include the right to access certain information, correct it, request deletion, manage your account details, manage advertising and privacy preferences, and withdraw or change consent where consent applies. The rights available to you vary by location, and not every right applies to everyone.

You can update or delete much of your information directly from your account. For other requests, contact us using the details in section 15 — we may need to verify that the request comes from the account holder.

11. Advertising and consent choices

Visitors in some jurisdictions may be shown privacy or consent controls relating to cookies, advertising and personal data. Where required, FaithTrainer may rely on Google's consent management tools or another appropriate consent solution to collect and record those choices. You can also change advertising preferences at any time through Google Ads Settings and your browser's cookie controls.

12. Children's privacy

FaithTrainer is a general Christian learning and faith website intended for a general audience. It is not designed for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children where doing so would require parental consent or another legal basis that we have not obtained.

If we become aware that we have collected such information from a child in those circumstances, we will take appropriate steps to delete it. If you are a parent or guardian and believe this has happened, please contact us.

13. Third-party links and services

FaithTrainer links to other websites and services, including Bible resources and social platforms. We do not control those sites, and their own privacy policies govern what they collect and how they use it.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our features, technology, advertising practices or legal obligations change. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page rather than changing the policy silently.
